Part I — Privacy Policy
Last Modified: August 19, 2026
Climate Leadership Action (“CLA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a U.S.-based 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization with a mission to mobilize Americans of all ages and walks of life to make ambitious action to solve the climate crisis and make a just transition to clean energy a top priority for policymakers.
This Privacy Policy describes how CLA treats personally identifiable information, on CLA’s websites including other websites controlled or operated by CLA from which you are accessing this Privacy Policy, and on all associated subdomains and online services controlled or operated by CLA, including: all online forms on our websites; in-person and online event registration forms; member registration forms; our mass marketing email lists and newsletter subscriptions; donor event registration forms; donation forms and processing; and it also applies to any other interactions we may have with you, online or offline (collectively, the “Services”).
CLA processes personal information on our servers in the United States of America. Individuals located outside the United States may access this website. By accessing or using the website, you understand that information you provide to us, and information collected through your use of the website, may be processed and stored in the United States.
Please also see our supplemental State Privacy Notices (Part II below) for additional details on how we handle your Personal Information and how to exercise your privacy rights under U.S. state laws. In the event of a conflict, the State Privacy Notices control as to residents of the noted states.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to the personnel records of CLA’s employees. This Privacy Policy also does not apply to separate, limited-purpose data processes and forms that are governed by the notices and disclosures we provide at the time of collection, such as, without limitation, necessary logistical information regarding payments, reimbursements, travel arrangements, or the like.
This Privacy Policy describes what CLA collects through those services, but it does not apply to information collected directly by third parties, and we are not responsible for their data practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of third parties to understand how each of them may collect, use, disclose, store, or transmit your personal information, and choices you may have with respect to your personal information.
1. Personal Information We Collect
“Personal Information” is information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular individual or household. The information collected andhow we use it, depends largely on how you interact with us, whether by using our Services, applying for membership, making donations, signing petitions, registering for or speaking at our events, or applying to work or volunteer with us. We practice data minimization: we collect only the personal information reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy. We do not require you to provide Personal Information to browse our public websites.
Personal Information you provide to us directly:
Identity and contact data: your name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, and other contact information is collected when you fill out a registration or application form, subscribe to our emails or newsletters, register as a member, register for an event, or donate. CLA may request an official identity document to verify your information.
Voluntary profile and demographic data: information you choose to share with us, such as your gender, gender identity and expression, age, occupation, race and ethnicity, residency location, employer, and other organizations with which you may be associated. Providing this information is optional, and we use it to match you with relevant opportunities, support your membership, and produce anonymized statistical reporting.
Membership and program data: there are various levels of interaction with CLA, including email subscribers, program members, event attendees, volunteers, and donors. Your membership type, the programs, campaigns, or events you join or register for, your preferences and interests, and activities you self-report to us are collected and retained.
Event registration data: registration details for in-person and online events, including donor events, such as your name, contact details, and, if you volunteer, guest information and accommodation requests (see “Health-related accommodation information” below).
Donation and transaction data: information related to donations and purchases, such as donation amount, date, and acknowledgment preferences. Payment card details are collected and processed by our third-party payment processors. CLA does not store full payment card numbers.
Communications: if you communicate with us — in person, through our websites, by email, over the phone, or on social media — we collect your contact details and the contents of the communication so we can respond to you.
Petition and survey data: your responses, signatures, names, email and physical addresses, and comments, which may be treated as public information as described in Section 4.
Personal Information we receive from other sources
Authorized third parties and publicly available information: names and email addresses of individuals supplied by authorized third parties and from publicly available sources to identify new potential supporters. We may merge or combine such personal information with the personal information we collect from you directly or automatically. If we contact you on this basis, you may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or the contact methods in Section 11.
Referrals: Users of our Services may have the opportunity to refer to us colleagues, friends, or other contacts and share their contact information and other personal information. Please do not provide us with someone’s personal information unless you have their permission to do so.
If you submit any Personal Information relating to other people to us or to our service providers in connection with the Services (for example, an event guest), you represent that you have the authority to do so and to permit us to use the information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Services, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information, such as browser type, device type, operating system, language, pages visited, time spent on the Services, referring pages, and IP address (from which we may derive your approximate location). We collect this information through:
Cookies and similar technologies. We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, web beacons, and similar technologies (“Cookies”) to recognize you, remember your preferences, power interactive features, secure the Services, measure the performance of our communications and campaigns (including email open and click rates), and improve the design and functionality of the Services. You can manage Cookies through the “Cookie Preferences” link in our website footer and through your browser settings, as described in Section 5.
Web Beacons, also known as pixel tags or clear GIFs, which are typically used to demonstrate that a webpage or email was accessed or opened, or that certain content was viewed or clicked, typically to compile statistics about usage of websites and the success of marketing campaigns.
Analytics. We use third-party analytics services, such as Google Analytics, to understand use of the Services, report on activities and trends, and debug and repair errors. You can learn about Google’s practices at https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/ and opt out by downloading the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
IP addresses and log files. IP addresses and server logs are recorded automatically for systems administration, security, troubleshooting, and usage measurement.
Information we do not collect, and sensitive information
Categories we do not collect. CLA does not collect information about your religious beliefs or preferences, union membership, or philosophical beliefs, and we ask that you not provide such information to us. The Services provided by CLA do not contain adult-only content.
Health-related accommodation information. We do not collect health-related information unless you request specific accommodations for an event — for example, dietary requirements or accessibility-related needs. We use that information solely to provide the accommodation you requested and to respond to your related inquiries, we limit internal access to staff who need it to fulfill the request, and we delete it after the event.
Minors. Please see Section 7 (“Children and Minors”) for our practices regarding individuals under 18, including individuals at least 13 and under 16 years old.
Sensitive Information. We do not collect or use sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about individuals, and we do not sell sensitive personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
The categories of personal information described above also reflect our collection practices during the preceding 12 months.
Aggregated and anonymized information
We may aggregate and/or anonymize Personal Information so that it can no longer reasonably be used to identify you. For example, we may report the percentage of our members located in a particular region, or anonymized membership demographics to funders or in response to press inquiries. Once data is anonymized, it is no longer Personal Information, and we may use and disclose it for any lawful purpose. Where we maintain de-identified data, we commit to maintaining and using it only in de-identified form and not attempting to re-identify it, except as permitted by law to test the effectiveness of our de-identification.
2. How We Use Personal Information
We use Personal Information for the following purposes:
To create, support, and administer the Services, including without limitation, your subscription, membership, or other type of interaction with CLA, and to verify your status and tenure as a member.
To respond to inquiries and fulfill your requests, such as to process donations a, register you for events, provide requested information and materials, and provide member services.
To send you our newsletters, updates, and other information about CLA, our programs, and opportunities to take action, where you have subscribed or where otherwise permitted by law. If applicable law requires consent prior to sending you marketing communications, we will not send you direct marketing without your prior consent. You may unsubscribe at any time.
To personalize your experience, such as matching you with CLA action opportunities, events in your area, and content relevant to your interests, occupation, location, and the preferences you share.
To send administrative communications, such as confirmations, receipts, and notices of changes to our terms and policies. You may not opt out of administrative messages about your transactions.
To plan, run, and improve events, including managing registration, attendance, and accommodations you request.
To produce anonymized and aggregated statistical reporting about our membership and programs, including reporting to funders and in response to press inquiries.
To create promotional media content from photos and videos taken at our in-person and virtual events, which may include you.
Via list exchanges with other charities and data processors who may use your Personal Information to identify new potential supporters, including for their outreach and marketing purposes.
For our internal operations, such as data analysis, audits, security, fraud monitoring and prevention, debugging and repairing errors, developing and improving the Services, and measuring the effectiveness of our communications and campaigns.
To offer and deliver goods and services to you. For example, we may use personal information to process payments for goods or services or fulfill and ship orders for purchases of goods and provide receipts of purchases for your records.
To comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, comply with lawful requests and legal processes, and protect the rights, property, safety, and security of CLA, our members, and others.
To comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including preparing and submitting reports, filings, disclosures, or other information to government agencies or regulatory authorities (e.g., the Federal Election Commission, Internal Revenue Service, etc.) as required by applicable law. Such reports or filings may include certain Personal Information, such as your name, address, occupation, or other information required by law.
Personal information may be disclosed to law enforcement, government authorities, and private parties as we believe necessary or appropriate to: (a) maintain the safety, security, and integrity of our business, databases, and other technology assets; (b) protect our, your, or others’ rights, privacy, safety or property (including by making and defending legal claims); (c) audit our internal processes for compliance with legal and contractual requirements and internal policies; and (d) prevent, identify, investigate, and deter fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, unethical or illegal activity, including cyberattacks and identity theft
For research and development purposes, including to study, maintain, and improve our goods and services, as well as develop and improve existing goods and services and build new ones, understand and analyze the purchase, engagement, participation, usage, or other trends and preferences of our customers and users, and develop and improve our goods and services, both online and at our locations. We may also collect personal information, such as your name, email, and signature, in response to a petition. As part of these activities, we may create aggregated, de-identified, or other anonymous data from personal information we collect. We make personal information into anonymous or de-identified data by removing information that makes the data personally identifiable to you or your device, whether directly or indirectly. We will maintain and use any de-identified data without attempting to reidentify the data. We may use this anonymous or de-identified data and share it with third parties for our lawful business purposes
Data minimization. We collect and use Personal Information only as reasonably necessary and proportionate to the purposes described above or otherwise disclosed to you at the point of collection, and we do not use it for materially different, unrelated, or incompatible purposes without notifying you and, where required, obtaining your consent.
3. How We Disclose Personal Information
In addition to the specific situations discussed elsewhere in this Policy or at the point of collection, we may share your personal information with the following entities or persons:
To our service providers that support our operations under contracts that limit their use of your information to performing services for us, including without limitation: website hosting and database management and administration; payment and donation processors; email delivery and marketing platforms; event management, registration, and logistics providers; data analysis and security providers; and auditors and professional advisors.
To our affiliated 501(c)(3) organization The Climate Reality Project. If your personal information is shared, every message you receive from the affiliated group will include an unsubscribe link. Under some state privacy laws this sharing may be characterized as a “sale” of Personal Information, and you may opt out as described in our State Privacy Notices (Part II).
Within CLA to support your participation. Volunteers who receive participant information are required to handle it consistent with this Privacy Policy.
The Public. You may be able to submit content to us by, without limitation, signing one of our petitions, and we may identify you by displaying information such as your name or social media handle along with the content you submit. We do not control how other users or third parties use any personal information that you make available to other users or the public.
In connection with petitions and surveys, as described in Section 4.
For legal and safety reasons: to comply with applicable law and legal process in good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation; to respond to requests from public and government authorities; to enforce our terms and policies; to protect our operations, rights, privacy, safety, or property, or those of our members or others; and to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, or threats to the physical safety of any person.
As part of a significant organizational event: if CLA is reorganized, merged, or transfers all or part of its operations or assets (including in connection with bankruptcy or similar proceedings), Personal Information may be transferred to the successor organization, which may continue to provide services to you under this Privacy Policy or a successor policy.
We may also disclose aggregated or anonymized information — which does not identify you — for any lawful purpose, including published findings and statistical reports.
What we do not do. We do not send solicitations to our supporters on behalf of other organizations unless you specifically request it. We do not disclose your health-related accommodation information except to the service providers (for example, caterers or venues) needed to fulfill your request, and we delete it after the event.
Petitions and Surveys
For petitions and surveys you sign or complete we treat your name, city, state, and comments as public information — for example, we may provide compilations of petitions, with your comments, to the intended recipient and/or make them available to the press and public online and in-person. We will not make your street address, email address, or phone number publicly available, but we may transmit it to the intended recipient of the petition or survey as part of the submission. If we are compelled by valid legal request from a regulator, law enforcement or others to disclose the names and contact information of people who have signed petitions, we may provide the information to verify the accuracy of the petition and to prevent duplicate submissions.
5. Your Choices and Controls
We want you to be able to easily manage your information and your relationship with CLA. You will not be discriminated against, or denied membership or services, for exercising any of the choices or rights described in this Privacy Policy, but you may not have access to some services or experiences if information necessary to provide or customize those services is not available to us.
Updating your information
info@climateleadershipaction.orgYou may request to review, update, or correct the Personal Information we hold about you by emailing info@climateleadershipaction.org.
Unsubscribing from marketing communications
Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email CLA sends you;
Reply “STOP” to any text message you receive from us; or
Email info@climateleadershipaction.org or write to us at 555 12th Street, NW, Suite 350, Washington, DC 20004.
If you unsubscribe from marketing communications, we may still send you administrative messages about your transactions and your membership, from which you cannot opt out.
Deleting your information and withdrawing consent
You may withdraw consent for particular uses of your information or withdraw consent for all uses and request deletion of your information (“be forgotten”) by emailing info@climateleadershipaction.org. Residents of certain states have additional, legally enforceable deletion and other rights described in Part II. If you request deletion, we may retain an archived copy of records as required by law, to complete transactions, to maintain required financial and tax records, or to enforce our rights, and we may retain a suppression record to honor your opt-out.
Cookies and tracking
You can manage Cookies by clicking the “Cookie Preferences” link in our website footer and through your browser settings, which allow you to refuse or delete cookies. If you reject or erase cookies, parts of the Services may not function fully. We honor opt-out preference signals, such as the Global Privacy Control, as described in Part II. Except as described in Part II, we do not respond to browser “do not track” signals.
6. Data Retention
We retain Personal Information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes which you provided your data, and as described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. In general:
Subscribers: we retain your contact information and preferences for the duration of your subscription. You may unsubscribe at any time.
Members: we retain your membership data for the duration of your membership, which continues until you withdraw your membership or it is revoked.
Donation and purchase records: we retain transaction records for the period required for tax, audit, and financial reporting purposes, and donation records for the duration of your relationship with us and up to six years thereafter to comply with our legal and financial reporting obligations.
Event accommodation and health-related information: deleted after the event for which it was provided.
Technical and analytics information: retained for a reasonable length of time, generally not exceeding fourteen (14) months.
To determine the appropriate retention period for Personal Information, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the Personal Information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your Personal Information, the purposes for which we process your Personal Information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, any applicable ongoing legal claims, and the applicable contractual obligations or legal requirements. When Personal Information is no longer required, we destroy, delete, erase, or anonymize it as permitted or required under applicable laws. We will not delete personal information that is relevant to an ongoing investigation or dispute; it will continue to be stored until those issues are fully resolved.
7. Children and Minors
CLA’s Services are not directed at children under the age of 13, and CLA does not knowingly collect Personal Information from anyone under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected Personal Information from a child under 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. Individuals under the age of 18 should not attempt to provide us with any personal information without parental or guardian consent. If you think we have received personal information from individuals under the age of 18 in violation of this Policy, please contact us immediately at info@climateleadershipaction.org. We do not knowingly “sell” or use personal information of individuals under 18 years of age for targeted advertising or profiling, as defined by Colo. Rev. Stat. §§ 6-1-1301–1313 (2024), as amended.
8. Job Applicants
If you apply for employment with CLA, we collect the information you provide in connection with your application — such as your name, contact details, résumé or CV, work history, education, references, and any other information you choose to submit. We use applicant information solely to evaluate your candidacy, communicate with you about your application, comply with legal obligations (including equal opportunity and recordkeeping requirements), and, if you are hired, to begin your employment relationship. Applicant information is maintained separately from our member, subscriber, and donor data, is not added to our marketing lists, is accessible only to staff involved in hiring, and is retained only as long as needed for the recruitment process and any legally required retention periods, after which it is deleted, unless you consent to our retaining it for future opportunities.
9. Security
We implement reasonable physical, technical, administrative, and organizational measures designed to protect Personal Information from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include limiting access to Personal Information to employees, agents, and authorized service providers who need it to do their jobs; contractually requiring service providers to protect the information they process for us and to use it only to perform services on our behalf; encryption and secure servers; and disposal of information when it is no longer needed.
Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be entirely and permanently secure. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure, please notify us immediately at info@climateleadershipaction.org.
10. Other Important Information
Third-party services and links
This Privacy Policy does not address, and we are not responsible for, the privacy, information, or other practices of any third parties, including any third party operating a site or service to which the Services link, or your relationship with platforms such as social media providers, app stores, operating system providers, or device manufacturers. The inclusion of a link on the Services does not imply our endorsement of the linked site or service. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites and services you use.
Social sign-in
If our Services allow you to log in using third-party sign-in services, those services will authenticate your identity and may offer to share certain Personal Information with us, such as your name and email address, to pre-populate forms. The third party’s privacy policy governs that entity’s use of your information as it then provides it to us.
Jurisdiction
The Services are controlled and operated by us from the United States and may be accessed internationally. Personal Information collected by CLA is stored and processed in the United States. Information submitted through the site from international locations will be transferred to and processed in the United States. This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without respect to its conflict of laws principles, except where the law of your state of residence applies as described in Part II.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Modified” date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Changes become effective when we post the revised Privacy Policy on the Services. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy (the information we collect, how we use it, or why), we will highlight those changes at the top of the policy or provide a prominent link to them for a reasonable period and where required by law we will notify you and/or obtain your consent.
11. Questions, Requests, and Contact Information
To exercise any of the choices or rights in this Privacy Policy or the State Privacy Notices, or if you have questions or concerns:
Phone: 202-567-6800
Mail: Privacy Support, Climate Leadership Action, 555 12th Street, NW, Suite 350, Washington, DC 20004
We will verify and respond to requests as described in the State Privacy Notices and as required by applicable law. If we deny your request, you may appeal as described in Part II.
Part II — State Privacy Notices
Last Modified: August 19, 2026
These additional State-specific Privacy Notices (“State Privacy Notices”) supplement CLA’s Privacy Policy (Part I) and provide additional information for residents of the noted states. Capitalized terms have the meanings defined for them in the Privacy Policy. As a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, CLA is exempt from many state consumer privacy laws; the notices below address the states whose laws apply to nonprofit organizations like CLA, or under which we voluntarily extend rights as a best practice.
California
CLA has adopted a policy of not sharing your Personal Information with third parties for those parties’ own direct marketing purposes, if you request that we not do so. If you are a California resident, you may make such a request — or request information about any disclosures of Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year — by emailing info@climateleadershipaction.org (please reference “California Privacy Notice” and include your name, address, and email address), or writing to: Privacy Support, Climate Leadership Action, 555 12th Street, NW, Suite 350, Washington, DC 20004. There is no charge for this request; please allow thirty (30) days for a response. As a nonprofit organization, CLA is generally not a “business” regulated by the California Consumer Privacy Act.
Colorado, Oregon, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Minnesota, and Montana
Rights and requests
If you are a consumer as defined by the Colorado Privacy Act, the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, the New Jersey Data Privacy Act, the Delaware Personal Data Privacy Act, the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act, the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act, or the Montana Consumer Data Privacy Act (as amended), as applicable (“Applicable Privacy Laws”), you have certain rights relating to your Personal Information. You or your authorized agent may submit a request to exercise these rights by emailing info@climateleadershipaction.org:
Right to know and access: confirm whether we process your Personal Information and access a copy of it, including the categories of Personal Information we process, the purposes of processing, and the categories of third parties to whom we have disclosed it.
Right to specific third parties (Oregon and Minnesota): if you are an Oregon or Minnesota consumer, you may request a list of the specific third parties to which we have disclosed your Personal Information (or, at our option, personal data generally). For CLA, the only external recipients of Personal Information are our affiliated 501(c)(3) organization, The Climate Reality Project, in addition to the service providers acting on our behalf described in Part I.
Right to categories of third parties (Delaware and Maryland): if you are a Delaware or Maryland consumer, you may request the categories of third parties to which we have disclosed your Personal Information.
Right to correct: request that we correct inaccuracies in your Personal Information, taking into account its nature and purposes by emailing info@climateleadershipaction.org.
Right to delete: request that we delete Personal Information provided by or obtained about you, subject to legal exceptions by emailing info@climateleadershipaction.org.
Right to data portability: obtain a copy of Personal Information you provided to us in a portable and readily usable format by emailing info@climateleadershipaction.org.
Right to opt out of the “sale” of Personal Information: as described in Part I, the only Personal Information CLA shares with any external group as a data controller are email lists shared with our affiliated unincorporated local chapters and our affiliated 501(c)(3) organization. Because this sharing may be characterized as a “sale” under Applicable Privacy Laws, you may opt out of it at any time using the methods above.
Right to opt out of targeted advertising: to the extent we use Cookies for targeted advertising, you may opt out by (1) clicking the “Cookie Preferences” link in our website footer, toggling off targeting cookies, and confirming your choices; and (2) emailing info@climateleadershipaction.org.
Right to opt out of certain profiling: opt out of profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. CLA does not engage in such profiling or make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning consumers.
Minnesota consumers also have the right to question the result of profiling that produces a legal or similarly significant effect, to be informed of the reason for the result, to be informed of actions you might take to secure a different result, and to review the personal data used in the profiling.
Rights regarding sensitive data: we process sensitive data (such as health-related accommodation information) for our special events, and only with your consent, which you may withdraw at any time, and we delete accommodation data after the relevant event. Maryland consumers: consistent with the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act, we do not sell sensitive data under any circumstances, and we collect, process, and share sensitive data only where strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested.
How we verify and respond
We will verify and respond to your request consistent with applicable law, taking into account the type and sensitivity of the Personal Information at issue. We may need to request additional information, such as your contact details or information about your previous interactions with us, to verify your identity and protect against fraudulent requests; we will use it only for verification. If you make a deletion request, we may ask you to confirm it before we delete your Personal Information. We will respond within forty-five (45) days of receiving a verifiable request, and may extend that period by an additional forty-five (45) days where reasonably necessary, in which case we will notify you of the extension. We will not charge a fee for up to two requests per year unless requests are manifestly unfounded, excessive, or repetitive. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Appeals
If we decline to take action on your request, we will inform you of the reason. You may appeal our decision within a reasonable period by replying to our response or contacting info@climateleadershipaction.org with the subject line “Privacy Appeal.” Within the period required by your state’s law (generally 45 days; 60 days for Colorado and Maryland residents), we will inform you in writing of any action taken or not taken in response to your appeal, with a written explanation. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General to submit a complaint: Colorado (coag.gov), Oregon (doj.state.or.us), New Jersey (njoag.gov), Delaware (attorneygeneral.delaware.gov), Maryland (marylandattorneygeneral.gov), Minnesota (ag.state.mn.us), or Montana (dojmt.gov).
Authorized agents
An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf as permitted under applicable law using the submission methods above. As part of our verification process, we may request proof of the agent’s authority, and we may require that you verify your own identity or confirm that you gave the agent permission to submit the request.
Universal opt-out signals
We process opt-out preference signals, such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC), as required by applicable privacy laws, including for opting out of any sale of Personal Information and targeted advertising. These signals set your opt-out preferences only for the particular browser or device you are using and any consumer profile we associate with that browser or device. For information about the Global Privacy Control, visit https://globalprivacycontrol.org/.
Disclosures regarding “sale” and targeted advertising
For fundraising purposes, CLA may share Personal Information, including name and mailing address, on a limited basis with other nonprofit organizations via list exchanges, and in return receives personal information from those other organizations. Sharing personal information in this manner is characterized as the “sale” of personal information under Applicable Privacy Laws. You have the right under the applicable privacy laws of your state to opt out of the selling of your Personal Information and may submit requests to opt out as noted above.
CLA may share email lists with our affiliated 501(c)(3) organization, The Climate Reality Project, which may constitute a “sale” under the applicable privacy laws of your state and you may opt out as described above. We do not sell or process for targeted advertising the Personal Information of any consumer we know to be under the age of 18, and we do not sell sensitive data.
De-identified information
Where we maintain information that cannot reasonably be used to infer information about, or otherwise be linked to, you or a device linked to you (“de-identified information”), we maintain and use it only in de-identified form, publicly commit not to attempt to re-identify it, and contractually obligate any recipients to comply with these same requirements.
Notice of changes
CLA may amend these State Privacy Notices from time to time, including to reflect new or amended state privacy laws. The “Last Modified” date at the top indicates when these State Privacy Notices were last revised, and changes become effective when posted on the Services.
